Floodplain Manager

2018 Salary Range: $40,800 $58,803 (based on qualifications)

Employee Type: Salary / Exempt

The Floodplain Manager serves as the Planning Department’s primary source of knowledge on community floodplain management, the National Flood Insurance Program, and floodplain development regulations. This includes serving as the primary point of contact with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. It also includes maintaining a detailed understanding of IDNR and FEMA requirements, policies, programs, training opportunities, and resources. The Floodplain Manager shall also be responsible for the implementation and periodic review and update of the Columbus Flood Risk Management Plan. This includes the periodic review and update of the data and mapping used for the Columbus Flood Response and Evacuation Plan. The Floodplain Manager shall further oversee the administration and enforcement of all local floodplain regulations. They shall also have responsibility for Department files, reports, and data regarding floodplain issues, programs, developments, and regulations.

Responsible for the coordination of and the efficient operation of all aspects of Ethnic Expo, the Inoperable Vehicle Abatement Program, other community events supported by the City of Columbus, and special projects as directed by the Programs Coordinator. Possible special projects and events may include:

Payroll and Benefits Assistant

Title: Payroll Benefits Assistant

Supervised By: Clerk Treasurer

  • Assists the Payroll Benefits Administrator in Clerk/Treasurer’s Office in a variety of complex payroll and human resources functions, including producing timely and accurate payroll automatic deposits, reports, records and checks; paying and reconciling taxes, monitoring employees leave banks; reconciling employees’ benefits, and develop quarterly reports for various agencies related to the payroll. Assists in creation and analysis of reports and assists in running payroll system connected to the City’s departments. Performs all essential functions of Payroll Benefits Administrator in his/her absence. Interacts effectively with other departments, city staff and the public.
